Each year the Cape Cod Chapter of Trout Unlimited runs one of the best and least expensive fly fishing schools anywhere. This is an absolutely terrific way to learn to fly fish, or improve your skills in the sport. The instructors have an enormous amount of local experience and knowledge - Molly Benjamin

The Cape Cod Chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold their annual FLY FISHING SCHOOL at the YMCA's recently rennovated Camp Burgess, on Spectacle Pond in Sandwich on May 16, 17, & 18. Come for the weekend, sleep-over, and enjoy everything our fly fishing school now in its 23nd year has to offer.. Lodging, all meals and tackle to use, if needed, are included.

Men, women, young and old are welcome, with special group ratees and scholarships available. Just show up we will take care of everything else!

CCTU teaches a basic fly fishing course including; casting techniques, fly tying, knots, catch & release techniques, fly selection, insect identification, how to choose tackle, stream ethics and conservation. Both saltwater & freshwater angling are covered. We usually field up to three FFF (Federation of Fly Fishers) Certified Casting Instructors to help you perfect your casting techniques.

Our Stream & Pond Entomology course is taught using our unique live insect multimedia presentation. Plus you'll have plenty of time to hone your skills on Spectacle Pond.

This Camp is one of the Chapters biggest fund raisers for the year. All the monies raised go right back into both local and national conservation projects like the Quashnet River Restoration in Mashpee / Falmouth and the Red Brook / Lyman Reserve Project in Wareham.
